QBE recently exhibited as a gold sponsor at the biennial FERMA (Federation of European Risk Managers Association) Forum, Europe’s largest event specifically aimed at risk managers.
Held over four days in Stockholm at the Waterfront Congress Centre, FERMA's Forum attracted over 1500 delegates and brought together the national Risk Management associations of 16 European countries. The Forum is specifically designed to give Risk Managers an opportunity to improve their skills and knowledge, to help influence business decisions and to ensure that good risk management standards are integrated into business processes. The theme of this year’s conference was "Risk managers shaping up for tomorrow".
QBE’s participation in the forum was hosted for the first time by Patrick Coene, Managing Director, European Markets, in conjunction with the local host Torkel Lindberg, General Manager Nordic Region. Senior members from the London based Underwriting and risk management teams also attended, together with senior members of the QBE European Distribution team.
The QBE exhibition stand design included a meeting area, while QBE also offered brokers and clients a separate meeting room away from the activity of the busy exhibition floor. The QBE stand saw more than 250 visitors over the three days. It offered excellent opportunities for networking and relationship building, and a number of key client contacts made.
Commenting on the event, Patrick Coene said: “FERMA was my first opportunity to host a major conference on behalf of QBE and I could not have chosen a better one. A truly European event, we had very beneficial meetings, especially with the local Nordic clients and brokers. I am confident that our presence supported our position in the region and will contribute to the ongoing growth of our business.
Torkel Lindberg added: "The FERMA Forum in Stockholm has proven to be a great example of how local European and London-based teams can best work together to share positive messages about QBE.
“The next step in the process will be to compile all data and follow up on leads from the meetings and discussions we had. Clearly, the tangible benefit of our participation in FERMA will be to turn it in to business. I am very confident that we will."
QBE also had a busy week entertaining delegates. Firstly, on Monday 3 October, QBE sponsored the Forum’s networking lunch which was used to raise QBE’s brand profile and to encourage business development opportunities in Europe.
On the evening of Tuesday 4 October, QBE hosted a drinks reception, followed by a dinner for 20 leading brokers and clients on board the M/Y Merceditas Nordic. The guests enjoyed a seafood dinner and a gentle yacht cruise around the harbours of Stockholm and the inner archipelago.
